An object refuse to center at 0 0 0 coordinate [SOLVED]
« on: January 25, 2014, 02:39:25 PM »
Hi,

Today, new mystery.
I have an imported object, who refuse to center on a specific coordinate (0,0,0).

I use to go into the inspector, and set 0,0,0 , the model seems to center.
But, that is NOT the real center. (more like 10,0,0)

This is like something force my model to have an offset. But in the inspector, my model show : coordinate 0,0,0 ... and that is not true.

I have added no component to the model, so what could put an offset on a newly imported model ?

Is it a blender model? or other 3D model?

If so, you need to position the pivot point in the 3D app, before exporting.
Also are you using .FBX in Unity or the export from the program.

a little more info for a better response. sil vou plait.

I am using 3Dsmax 2012 .Fbx file.

You are right asking that, because the error seems to come from here. I did a "reset x form", which improved the local pivot when imported.

I also had to fix a scale problem (2.54 x too big) by checking "inch" in the export parameter. Now this is ok for that part.

But it seems something buggy is still there. My local pivot on 3dsmax is ok, and it seems the pivot is moving when exported in FBX.

This is close, but this is not ok. There is an offset (who is causing a bug with my new camera, the reason i only discovered that bug now :s)

Found !

This was a problem with Reset Xform.

I had a similar issue, but gave up trying to fix it for the time being. (created in 3DS Max)

Could you give more info on how/where you fixed it? What options did you use and where? (I'm a max newbie)
