tool windows disable
« on: March 29, 2015, 04:31:45 PM »
hi,

i accidentally Enabled Tool Windows When Playing
and i found the settings (preferences/General) wich should set it back to normal.
but it does not... thats just the minor part

the major problem now is :

when i play the game and stop at any given time the globals are saved and not set back to their original state....

this messed up loads of globals, i got it all good now...
but i can't get it back to normal.
it still messes up the globals when i play and stop it

using playmaker V 1.7.7.f6
unity3d v 4.6.4f1

friendly greetings,

Dino

The preferences not sticking suggests a problem with the Unity install. Try re-installing Unity...

If that doesn't help. Some questions to try and narrow down the cause:
Are you seeing the problem in all projects? And in new projects?
Do you have access to another machine to test the project on?

tried to re-install and cleaned regedit, tried different version (4.6.3f1)

other versions of the game (older versions) also break when i use on this pc (laptop windows 8.1)

on my pc (windows 7) i got an older version of my game and is ok but the newer version is still broken.

i was planning to clean my laptop anyway so i am re-installing everything (windows and other stuff) and will let you know if it is good then.

i want to try to save my latest version of the game,
what files i can try to replace. i only have 1 or 2 additional globals so i can add them again manually... and files handling the settings i guess...

thx in advance.

friendly greetings,

Dino

ok this is getting really weird....

just installed a fresh windows 8.1 on my laptop

installed unity3d v4.6.3f1 (same file as i have used to install on my pc)

but still having that problem and tested it with another project and the 1st time i play it it locks but the 2nd time it has the same issue.....

i got my latest version of my game fixed now on my pc and will try tomorow again on my laptop, but i think it will have the same result...

btw, can it be something from windows 8 breaking it?

friendly greetings,
Dino

ok, last windows installation was a reset actually, but now everything has been erased installed and updated windows 8.1 pro,
downloaded 4.6.4 fresh from unity website and installed it,
installed java se dev kit 7 update 75,
installed android studio,
installed all packages on sdk manager,

tested my game on pc and worked fine,

tested on my fresh laptop and still have the same problem......
can it have to do something with .net or visual c++

installing unity 5 now hoping this will help...

hi, i just made a full reinstall of my pc and installed unity3d v5.0.2 and created a new project, installed playmaker 1.7.8.3 and i have the same problem on both my laptop and my pc ...

installed java jdk1.8.0_45,
installed android studio,
installed all packages on sdk manager,

It only happens when the Globals windows is visible.
When i reopen my project the stats are back to normal IF i have not changed any value manually.

But if i change something manually to any Global, all globals are saved with the value from last played

I will make a video of it today or tomorrow so you can see what happens

Edit : just made another project and it does saves changed stats sometimes
