2D Retro Beginner Tutorials Series with Unity & Playmaker
« on: August 20, 2014, 07:45:47 PM »
Hey all,

i decided to scratch my idea about paid tutorials, but rather focus on free and donation system.

so here is first part of this new tutorial series where we will be resurrecting retro games, one by one, in playmaker :)

starting with tic tac toe.

I am already filming part 2 and i would appreciate if you guys looked at this video, maybe gave me some likes and shares, and feedback on what to improve.

Part 2 of new tutorial series for beginners in Unity 3d game engine, with Playmaker addon.

We will continue working on our Tic Tac Toe game. We will wire all 9 slots and then we will look into boolean variables and some logic's such as if statements.

It might be just me but your tic tac toe seem very inefficient. Seems to me it could be done way easier.

it could be, but i had to keep it to beginner levels, using only sort of primitive stuff,

about new parts... i dont know when i will resume it, lots of work goes into making them, with not so much reward out of it :) hehe

Hi!

Even if I'm not a begginner anymore, I got some good tips with your tutorials.
Thank you.

But in Player 1 and 2 Manager, you should make a global event in the state "Waiting for mouse clicks" Then you don't need to connect all the states back to the first state. It would be more clean, as you can see in the picture. Or else, very nice tutorials.

When will it be part 5?

oh yes for sure. im not really sure why i didnt do it like this. i think i wanted to keep it simple and keep everything connected with connections, and not need to use send event. although when you look at it in the end, it looks really complex and arrows going everywhere etc...

so yeh, i think global event is the way to go :)

about part 5, like i said, not sure. it takes a ton of time to make videos like that, even if it doesnt look like it. mainly editing part. maybe i will continue it, but try to shoot everything in 1 take, so that i dont need to edit it later on.

the thing is, im making 3d modular buildings right now, and this is where i spent my time, and playing computer games. so yeh there is not much incentive to make this video, too little return from it, actually none :)  and yeh 3d buildings i can sell for a really nice money

Just found this video series - really great!  Know you've been on a break for a while to make models, but I do hope you get back to finish at least this one.

Although people rarely want to pay for tutorials, you can use them to gather good will for the other things you are selling.

Good luck!
