Hi,
It's important to understand that beta cycles are NOT for production, it's dangerous, and I got caught myself in this too many times. Use the beta cycles to learn new features, experiment, but make sure you don't set yourself a trap by upgrading your real worlds projects, it will backfire at some point. There can be changes between the beta and the final release, or even break things for good. It's unlikely, but nonetheless a real possibility.
The other thing is that I alwasy wait for few patches to move production to the latest versions of Unity, public beta do offer a lot of feedback for Unity to produce quality releases, but patches are a must and so I would wait for at least one patch before relying on a public release.
That aside, yes PlayMaker is under active development for a release as soon as possible
Bye,
Jean
