Using PlayMaker for story driven game with RPG elements?
« on: October 10, 2020, 01:41:31 PM »
I'm planning on creating a story-driven game (like a classic text adventure) but will be driven from a UI using buttons/actions. Would like to implement some mechanics like quests, inventory, and simple turn-based combat (all in text format with some UI elements). My question is PlayMaker suited for something like that straight out of the box (I am new to coding) or should I put my focus elsewhere?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Without doubt, YES.
If your game will be based on UI elements, consider Doozy UI (Personally, I use) and Playmaker.

You may want to have a look at Inkle's Ink story engine: https://www.inklestudios.com/ink/
Someone added Playmaker actions on their github.
