Upgrading to Newest Playmaker wipes previous work
« on: May 10, 2014, 09:03:18 AM »
Howdy folks,

We're a little new to playmaker so perhaps this is just a simple fix in which case I'd be eternally grateful for the assist.

We just updated to the most recent playmaker via the asset store download utility and attempted to import the new playmaker over the old.  But when we did it, the old playmaker objects lost their configurations (as if they never had a playmaker graph in the first place and lost all the data relating to configuring playmaker actions).

We've read and followed the instructions to upgrade as in the readme.txt file.

Are we missing something?

We're using Unity Pro 4.3.0f4
GITHub
We've placed PlayMaker directory in Assets->Packages->PlayMaker folder

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Importing directly from the assetstore/updater is fine for a new project.
but NEVER on a existing project.

I highly recommend staying with the version of the assets you start your project with, also the engine version. Unless the update really adds something you
must have or need.

If you decide to just update everything continuously as they are released,
then do it like I do (the safe(r) way)

1) Always backup your project
2) Have a "blank" project where you import new assets
3) Then via files manager copy the asset from the blank to your current project.
This will give you the updated files, and not the install changes that comes
with importing some assets..

I even made a video on the subject!

On the lost configuration files matter, I'm afried you have to restore a to
the version you had before you started the download.

@Martin - THAT notice should pop-up after EVERY Asset Store download!
(you know just before us n00b's hit the "Import" button  ;) )

Excellent post and info!
