Action Editor Window Bugged Out/Frozen [Reoccured]
« on: August 09, 2016, 02:45:17 PM »
Hello,

I was about to type in "set animator bool" into the action editor but half way through typing the action editor went blank and the following error was displayed (see attachment). I've used this action hundreds of times so I don't know what really caused it.

I have no idea how or why this happened but it makes it so I can't do any more work on the project without the actions window. I've tried closing out playmaker in the project and restarting it, reopening the project, and restarting my computer, but the error doesn't go away and the action editor window stays blank and frozen when it comes back up.

If anyone knows what caused this and how to fix it I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Hi,

This action editor has an issue (I'll have a look but wanted to reply first).

basically, turn off the preview of the action at the bottom of the Action Browser, and you should be then fine.

Let me know if you still have problem after you turned off preview

Bye,

 Jean

Hi Jean,

Unfortunately the action browser is completely blank and there is nothing on there that I can interact with, or else I would try that. (See new picture)

Problem solved

I was able to make it normal again by loading up the project with a new scene, as the problem seemed to stem from the scene I was working with. After going back to that same scene the problem stayed fixed, which is strange, but everything back to normal.

Also worth noting that the problem still persisted when I loaded up a backed up version of the project from two days prior. Also reinstalling the same version of unity didn't fix the problem, so the issue still baffles me.

Hi,

it's likely a custom action that doesn't render properly for the preview.

what error do you get inside the Unity Log?

Hi Jean,

Sorry I didn't see your last reply at the original time of posting. I came back to this post to check my solution because the issue happened again. However, now the previous solution isn't working either.

Attached is a screen shot of the same error that throws multiple times whenever I try to interact with the action browser.

Hi,

likely because you haven't updated the package from the Ecosystem, The fix is in there. I fixed it few weeks ago.

 Bye,

Hello,

Oh ok. I have the Ecosystem browser. What is the name of the package to search for to apply the fix?
