A book, a dream job, cancer.
« on: November 21, 2016, 09:46:19 AM »
This year has been a mixed bag. My Playmaker text book, No-Code Video Game Development Using Unity and Playmaker (tinyurl.com/noCodeKelley), was published through Taylor and Francis in June!

Like I always told you, if you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything!

In September, I was headhunted for his dream job: Evangelist for Unity Technologies (Asia) in Seoul, South Korea!

In October, however, I was diagnosed with cancer. So now I have to live within 40 miles of the Roswell Cancer Institute in order to qualify for treatment. And everything I did to qualify for my dream job (working overseas, contract book writing), now works against me, disqualifying me for Disability. :(

No more dream job and instead, cancer. So that part sucks.

If you're interested, I managed to retain audio/visual rights, so Section 1 (Intro to Unity) of the book is available free on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWWn-q7oQDhGi8-Z3BRMCL0RMOCnPPsr3

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear about you getting cancer, that certainly must be depressing news to receive, especially on top of not being able to do what you thought could be your dream job. I hope you find some sense of uplifting purpose with this new life direction and experiences.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your troubles, if youre nearby a legal cannabis state I would really really give thc oil a try (even if I wasnt, I would gove it a try to be honest, damn Id try anything).

If youre not much of a fan of random suspicious looking videos online of people claiming to cure their cancer miraculously or Rick Simpson's claims that he had cured hundreds, for free, with THC oil then I will link you to some real academic studies which supports all the stuff online. Not trying to preach a miracle cure but Ive found cannabinoid research fascinating for a while now and the anti cancer side is really taking off and produced some really amazing results (as they say "the hippies were right") :

(this one is really facinating because it is often believed by science that THC (main psychoactive ingrediant of cannabis) kills cancer mainly by binding to the Cannabinoid receptor, but this study shows that the cancer cell killing effect is independant of the cannabinoid receptor)

http://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/fullarticle/410634 ( this one simply says that they could not find an increased risk of lung cancer in cannabis smokers)

And a small summary:

Good luck with it all and I wish you the best, whatever way you chose to fight it and I hope you figure out a way to live your dream again once it is all over.

Yeah, sounds about like my year only instead of cancer a mysterious unknown disease that put me into a coma for five days.  It is the strangest sensation to think "oh shit, I'm going to die" and then wake up five days later not knowing what happened.  So anyway, now I'm making video games as I sit here waiting for the next stage of my mystery disease.  Oh and my new president ran on cutting my healthcare.  So if I live long enough, he'll kill me.
