Howto in PlayMaker: Proximity Shaders
« on: January 08, 2013, 12:06:27 AM »
Hi I'm wondering if anyone has tried to create a proximity shader in PlayMaker ?

The ground & wall change colour as a player moves close to certain objects.

What would be a good starting point with this ?
I once created an object that changed material as the mouse cursor passed over it.   Maybe this is a good start.. the important thing is that it fades from one to another.. not an abrupt change.  It would be neat to have a fall of area so as the character walked past it gradually returned to its original colour... or if you wanted you could hold the colour change for as long as you desired.

I'm guessing a lot of this might involve vertex shading which might kill draw calls etc...
or maybe not...  :)
