I'm having an error with IL2CPP and Playmaker [SOLVED]
« on: February 13, 2020, 08:03:51 PM »
Failed running C:\Program Files\Unity\Hub\Editor\2019.3.1f1\Editor\Data\il2cpp/build/deploy/net471/il2cpp.exe --convert-to-cpp --emit-null-checks --enable-array-bounds-check --dotnetprofile="unityaot" --compile-cpp --libil2cpp-static --platform="Android" --architecture="ARM64" --configuration="Release" --outputpath="C:\Users\x\Desktop\Field-of-View-master\Start file\Temp\StagingArea\assets\bin\Data\Native\arm64-v8a\libil2cpp.so" --cachedirectory="C:\Users\x\Desktop\Field-of-View-master\Start file\Assets\..\Library\il2cpp_android_arm64-v8a/il2cpp_cache" --additional-include-directories="C:/Program Files/Unity/Hub/Editor/2019.3.1f1/Editor/Data/PlaybackEngines/AndroidPlayer/Tools\bdwgc/include" --additional-include-directories="C:/Program Files/Unity/Hub/Editor/2019.3.1f1/Editor/Data/PlaybackEngines/AndroidPlayer/Tools\libil2cpp/include" --tool-chain-path="C:/Program Files/Unity/Hub/Editor/2019.3.1f1/Editor/Data/PlaybackEngines/AndroidPlayer/NDK" --profiler-report --map-file-parser="C:/Program Files/Unity/Hub/Editor/2019.3.1f1/Editor/Data/Tools/MapFileParser/MapFileParser.exe" --directory="C:/Users/x/Desktop/Field-of-View-master/Start file/Temp/StagingArea/assets/bin/Data/Managed" --generatedcppdir="C:/Users/x/Desktop/Field-of-View-master/Start file/Temp/StagingArea/Il2Cpp/il2cppOutput"

Hi,

1: back up
2: reimport playmaker from the asset store
3: if it doesn't work
4: delete playmaker folder ( keep the global asset and templates if you have them in that folder still)
5: import PlayMaker ( wizard won't work, you have potentially errors, if some scripts relies on PLayMaker
6: manually import the package ( Assets/PlayMaker/Editor/Installs)
7: if it doesn't work still, get back here and will debug further.

Bye,

 Jean

Hello, I've been getting this error since upgrading my project to Unity 2020.3.20f1 and using Playmaker 1.9.3 (tried 1.9.2 as well). I've tried reimported, reinstalling, everything.

I've even tried with an empty project, just adding Playmaker. Android build with IL2CPP, .NET 4.X, ARMV7 and ARM64 will always gives me this error.

The error:

Update: The same issue happens on Unity 2019.4.32f1 (Latest LTS)

But it finally worked with Unity 2018.4.36f1 (LTS)

However I would really need to build for Android with Unity 2020 version. :(

Do you get this even with the most basic setup in Build Settings and Player Settings?
Random suggestion: do a build with development mode, the least compression and no code stripping at all.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion!

I just tried changing these settings back and forth:

  • Development Build
  • Compression method
  • Strip engine code
  • Graphic APIs
  • C++ compiler configuration

But still getting the same error every time. (With the empty project)

Can anyone test if its happening on their end? Keep in mind I'm trying to build for Android, App Bundle (Google Play) with IL2CPP.

The problem must lie in your Unity setup if there are errors right from the beginning.
There are complications with Android. First, often times in the Android resolvers when updating projects for new Unity versions. Also, sometimes wrong paths towards the SDK/NDK/Gradle and java resources can cause issues.
Check them in Unity > Preferences > External Tools.
Temporarily allow manual paths and open them in the browser. Sometimes just doing that allows Unity and its Hub to know where the files are.

As a Playmaker user, errors in compilation and Gradle can be very annoying and depressing if you do not know what to look for.
By the way, always make sure to have a lot of space on your computer because the building process is going to gobble up the gigabytes even for the simplest project, otherwise you will get (cryptic) errors.

Hmm, look into this too.
I'm going to copy the message but the whole thread might be useful.
Quote
Ok, so I solved it for me at least and hopefully for some others. I'm using 2019.2.15 and to begin with I had the same issues as GunLegend with the "NDK not found". I'd solved this before finding this thread in the same manner as he had. Essentially installing the NDK and SDK directly with the Unity Hub is fine but unfortunately the Hub doesn't seem to know where it's actually created the files and attempts to direct itself to:
C:/Program Files/Unity/Hub/Editor/2019.2.5f1/Editor/Data/PlaybackEngines/AndroidPlayer/NDK
whereas it actually installs them at:
C:/Program Files/Unity/Hub/Editor/2019.2.5f1/Editor/Data/PlaybackEngines/AndroidPlayer/NDK/android-ndk-r16b
so it fails to find the NDK. I'd attempted to fix this with the same method as GunLegend and:
1. Unchecked the "Using NDK installed with Unity" in Preferences Settings
2. Add "android-ndk-r16b" to the end of the path, (or browse to find it and add it that way)
This allowed Unity to find the NDK but gave me the same error as atomicjoe ie the il2cpp.exe error.
I solved this issue by moving everything in the "android-ndk-r16b" up a level to where Unity expected to find it in the first place. So literally...
1. I selected everything inside the "android-ndk-r16b" folder, right clicked and used "cut", then...
2. I went back a folder into the "NDK" folder and used "paste".
3. Then I deleted the "android-ndk-r16b" folder which was in the same folder as I'd just pasted the other bits into and was now empty anyway.
4. finally I went back into Unity>Edit>Preferences and ticked the box saying "Using NDK installed with Unity"
Now I get no errors and everything builds properly again like it used to before I upgraded to the newer version.
Hope this helps.
A plugin might be causing such issues. This might also be generated by using two different accounts on the computer, namely not using the Windows administrator account that was used to install Unity when you're loading the Editor.

In Unity 2020, the JDK, SDK, NDK and Gradle are installed as modules in Unity Hub.

So they are the recommended version installed with Unity and should work.
In the thread you posted they are using Unity 2019, which seems to have issues finding the different Android tool paths. But in 2020 everything seems to work fine.
I still tried to manually download the required SDK and NDK (r19) and point their paths in external tools, but again it changed nothing.

A plugin might be causing such issues.
From looking at the errors I'm getting, that is exactly what is going on, but the plugin causing errors is PlayMaker...

I would try to resolve the errors myself just like "atomicjoe" did for the Energy Bar Toolkit plugin, but I would need access to the source code to recompile the DLLs, which I don't. :(

We still need to confirm if I'm the only one getting these errors. Its happening for me with a clean empty project.

It seems I'm at the mercy of PlayMaker fixing this. Thanks a lot for your help so far though!

The errors appear to be related to GUITexture and GUIText which were deprecated in Unity 2019.3. All references to these were removed in versions of PlayMaker for Unity 2019.3+. It seems like you might still be using a version of PlayMaker for 2018.4? Have you tried re-downloading PlayMaker and re-importing? Backup your project first!

Note, if you're using multiple versions of Unity there is a Package Manager bug where it doesn't always import the correct asset for the current version of Unity:

It looks like he's doing tests with totally fresh installs for both Unity and Playmaker.
Maybe he should purge the cache for the Unity plugins.

It worked! Alex Chouls solution did the trick.

I was indeed using a new project with fresh installs, but I'm using multiple version of Unity and the old Playmaker package located in the Asset Store (App Data) was getting imported instead of the newer version.

Thanks a lot for you guys time!
