Adding an action to the FSM takes 4 minutes to register, very cool

Hey, yeah it eventually finished at 6 minutes. I'm using Unity 2022.3.

PlayMaker does not seem optimized at all for bigger projects, the FSM Action Window being the main culprit.
If you have the FSM Editor window + FSM Action Window open, adding an action from the Action window will cause these hangups that can last for 8 minutes or more - just adding an action! Editing a variable (i.e. choosing to add a variable on the action) will cause a similar hangup that can go up to 2 minutes.

The only way I've made this manageable is to use the Action Window as little as possible, going so far as to going into other FSMs to copy actions so I can avoid having the FSM Action Window open.
When I need it open, I select an action to add and immediately close/switch the window so it doesn't freeze the project for 5 minutes.

But this is not a solution, I really hope Alex and company look at this issue.

Hi,

Something is wrong here.

We are using playmaker and unity on a daily bases and we don't experience this at all. I have develop fully fledge playmaker based virtual 3d application for more than 10 years now... and playmaker never was the source of the problem if I had some performances issue with a particular project, but yes, I have accumulated experience and I am aware of some of the common pitfalls with Unity projects and whan you use playmaker as well.

it looks to me that something is running against the process, maybe a malware or antivirus system that intercept everything your computer app does. could it be the case? Or maybe you have a tool that tamper with how much an app can exploit your multi core processor... do you experience this only when using a playmaker editor tool or do you have issues in the editor without playmaker being in your layout?

How big is your project in gb? Have you ever published it on a platform? which one? does it work then?

your could pm me with a copy of your project and I will run it on my pc and mac and give you feedback on what's happening.

Bye,

Jean

I only have these issues when the PlayMaker window is open, either in the Editor Layout or as a floating window. I used to have the PlayMaker Editor window docked below the Scene view, but now I can only have it open when I absolutely need to. Same goes for the FSM Action window, having it open while I edit an FSM will cause hangups.
I don't have any anti-virus except for Windows Defender. No issues with the Editor if PlayMaker windows are closed.

I just published my project on Steam this month and everything works in a build, the Unity project itself is 124 GB, I can't really send you a copy of the project since it's the entire game I just published.

The problem is PlayMaker's performance in the Editor, nothing else, because I'm not the only one with these issues either - the attached images are not mine but from another dev that uses PlayMaker.
I don't know if it's due to having a lot of actions (custom and by third-party like Easy Save 3, Rewired, Dialogue System etc) that causes this to happen.

Hi,

ok, I see...  If you can't share it, I won't be able to analyze  and tell you exactly what's going on. We are debugging large projects and we can sign non disclosure agreements, we worked with large studios and it's the usual way if you want to progress on that front.

Bye,

Jean
