Lag in the play window
« on: January 12, 2014, 07:20:46 AM »
Hi!
I have problems with a lot of lags in the play window. Special when the bombs explode in the game. But when I build and run it as a stand alone game, it runs smooth and perfect. It's only in Unity.

Does anybody has the same problems? And why does this happens?

Hi,

Unity Editor and PlayMaker Editor uses a lot of resources, and so it affect the framerate. You should not worry too much about it, it not reflecting how it will perform when published as you found out.

PlayMaker offers a series of preferences to switch off editors when playing.

Running in editor with just the game windows also helps and improve greatly the performances.

Bye,

 Jean

Hi!
But this is not normal. Sometimes, it's so much lag that I can't play it.
Sometimes it's very smooth. I also tried to turn off the Playmaker Editor and other things while i'm playing, but it's still slow down. I think it can be the update. Because I think it was after the update for a long time ago it started. Not the new update, but before that.

I also experience that the pull down menus like add component in the Inspector window disappear when I click on it. This happen only in the two extra screens I use. Not the iMac screen.

I don't know what's happening.

Hi!
I'm using the normal version of Unity.

I made a video, so you can se by yourself. The strange is that I have a bullet moving over the screen and shoot against the player. And in the Hierachy window, if I click on this bullet, so I can edit it in Playmaker. Then it is a lot of lag in the game window. So it seems like that Hierachy Window affect the game window.

You can see by yourself.

Hi, jeanfabre!

I don't think it is this FSM which is doing this, because as you also can see, the game also lag when I mark the Player in the Hierachy window.

But this FSM create the bullet crossing the screen and shoot the Player.

Do you think something messed up earlier in the project? Maybe it helps to just start a new project and copy all I need from this project.

I have the same issue when I show the playmaker window while playing my game on my mac (not super powerful) but on my PC it runs fine. Maybe there is something else going on!

I also use Mac. iMac 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB ram.
I haven't tried it on a PC. Maybe I should do that. The same project.
