[PAID ASSET] PlayMaker Actions For cInput
« on: January 15, 2015, 03:55:46 PM »
Hi,

you use PlayMaker and also the amazing cInput Asset for easy input mapping and more?
Then you maybe would like to use my asset "PlayMaker Actions For cInput".

It includes the most if not all current available cInput API Functions as Actions to setup and use cInput with PlayMaker.

Here you can find the original thread:
http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/playmaker-actions-for-cinput.291341/

Here you can get to the asset directly:
http://u3d.as/b7b

I hope you like it!
If you have questions or requests, please let me know! :)

Cheers.

I have no problem with this post as it is very relevant....BUT please add 'ad alert' to the title so not to piss off people.

Hi,

thanks for your reply... I don't know why people should be pissed off.
If they don't like it they don't buy it.
But I added "Commercial" to the title now, to prevent conflicts. :)

Cheers.

Hi,

This is a great initiative! Good luck with it, I have updated the trello task, Lane also mentionned it.

Indeed, always mention "PAID ASSET" or something. You are totally fine to mention your tool, this forum is not exclusivly dedicated to free community services :) but yeah, to not upset some members, make it clear, and it will be ok.

 Bye,

 Jean

Thank you for praise and hints! :)

I edited the titles.
Now it should be clear that it's a paid asset. :)

But nevertheless I hope some people will find it useful and time saving.

Hi,

Of course they will. We can't expect everything to be free. with cost comes responsability too, so make sure you honour your buyers with proper support and you'll be a winner!

I was just wondering what does this do that the free set doesn't?  I'm not trying to be a prick as I am thinking about buying it.  Are there more actions, better written, better support?

Hi,

The paid version I think has subtle variations that the free package doesn't. but I would simply either go with the free and get the paid if you are not happy with the free, or promote and encourage people to make paid assets like this, because then you can expect a more direct and dynamic support than on the wiki ( re the trello list of tasks.... way too long for being reactive enough).

jean, I was dumb enough to buy the paid version. Full of errors.  The free version does more and no bugs.  You can read my review on the unity store.  I'm sorry to say this, but a waste of time.  Just stick with the free version you can download here.

Also, it seems like the guy never even tested them out.  It's like he copied the actions over and tried to sell them.  I had to debug his actions for him.  then, I send him the free actions to show him all of the things he was missing.

I am not a happy camper.

Hi,

I can't find your comment on the assetstore, but nonetheless, you should not make bad critics before at least contacting the author in private so that he gets a chance to correct it. it really affects sales, not that you should not warn when an asset isn't worse the money, but at least work towards improving the asset with the author first, which it seems you did.

It's difficult to keep up with updates, not trying to find excuses for the author, but I speak from experience.

comment:
am trying to be nice here. Just pass on this.

- There are free Cinput actions on the playmaker forems. they actually do more.
- It's as if this guy never tested these out. they were full of bugs and some actions were not made. One lets you get a key input, but I had to tell him it wasn't there. Others were buggy and after telling him he seemed to fix them.
- There is no manual at all. the Cinput manual is a reference guide and the cinput videos are out of date, with the old GUI, uses C# with arrays and just don't cut it. They are good, but need a redo.
- After an entire week, I finally gave up. All I did was try to get this to work. You think it'd be simple, but nooooooo. It's so unbelieveably complicated with no instructions on how to do stuff.

Here's and example of what is missing: (BTW, the change key stuff are on the free actions on plymaker's website)
Missing: ‘GetAxisdeadZone’
Missing: ‘GetAxisGravity’
Missing: ‘GetAxisSensitivity’
Missing: ‘Set Axis Inverted’
Change Key: Missing Several inputs. These are needed.
a. Index
b. MouseAx
c. Mousebut
d. Joyax
e. Joybut
f. keyb
Get Axis: need to add ‘every frame’
Get axis raw: need to ‘add every frame’
Get Buttons (all 3): Does not have ‘send events’
Get keys (all 3): Does not have ‘send events’
Get text: Missing ‘returns blank’

So I am warning you if you think getting cinput and these tools will help you out, good luck but set aside a few weeks.

also:
I talked to guy a number of times and told him the errors.  he just took your free stuff and is trying to sell it.  people need to know before buying.
