How to get a texture on the terrain..

What is the best way to implement the footsteps of different terrain textures on the player when moving terrain when?

Hi,

 I would not recommand this as the one that tried apparently say it works but not very quick..

The likely solution would be to create steps as mesh that you place on the terrain manually.
