Hi,

yes, I think the best option would be that every one who wants to sponsor this game jam comes forward, and the winners will end up with a bunch of games and assets, this would be a very participative way to grant participants and winners with a feeling of community.

what do you think? If that's an idea that you like, we could have a google sheet or some kind of online document where we list all the prizes, all the categories and rules?

 Bye,

 Jean

Just say the word and I'll email across a redeemable code and a logo, should you need one.

Here's my game on the Play Store - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.MolberGames.CrashyBashBoom

It's not on the App Store at the moment as I'm PC-based and that $99 yearly subscription fee is a bit too much for my wallet at the moment.

My app is a kids game, but even if it's given as a prize for proof of what can be done using PlayMaker, it's all good. My game is 100% FSM-based as I'm a graphic designer by trade, so PlayMaker was my way of finally building something without spending a year or two having to learn code.

I agree, make it educational.

Maybe submissions should include a simple postmortem (text or video) explaining the playmaker logic...?

Alternatively projects could be submitted with a short tutorial about a Playmaker mechanic or logic included in the game....?

Sounds like fun!

Hi.

4. You must share any code and assets used for creating the game, that you are legally allowed to share without breaking any other legal agreements. So don't share any code belonging to your employer or anyone except yourself or anything that is under NDA or similar. Global Game JamĀ® is about creating learning opportunities. Do contribute to this by allowing people to tinker with the results of your game.

This is from the 'global Game Jam' rules and i totally agree on this.
It is mend to be educational.

And it will be, if others can look to their fsms/states/actions setups and learn from each other.

Also i would allow only free 3rd party assets (except for Playmaker of course) and self made assets to be used. this way it is easier to be shared.
other game jams also usually use their own made assets + with playmaker you can make something faster than in coding so that should be fine.

Hi Kurt.

I was thinking, maybe we could work with the eco packer so that we have built in the dll removal of PlayMaker, and then participant can safely just pack their game as a package and be sure it iwll not contain the dll? I think it could be a good option. next to the package, sample, action, we could have GameJam as a new type of output?

 Bye,

 Jean

Hi.
That could be a good idea, but maybe we should make a separate one for the Gamejam that can also upload it somewhere (similar to the asset store tool)

As it should get the complete project (except playmaker) , it will be a lot easier.

simply open the tool, set user name and submit.

Hi,

yeah, even better. Maybe it should be generic as in being able to share a project or package to communities without risking sharing the playmaker dll.

Bye,

 Jean

Great idea. I would love to join.

Also we can sponsor our package as well from 2nd Studio. If it has interest.

Hi.
1st beta version is here to try, get it on the attachment below.
Quote
Edit : 2nd version now.

Author :
place your (nick)name

Package name :
Place a name for your package (for example the name of the game)

Game Jam Submission Folder :
Place the folder from your game that you submit.
you should place all own made assets into that folder
including scenes/materials/prefabs/....
Do not place 3rd party assets into that folder

Target Directory :
Select the directory where you want to save the package.

3rd party assets :
Place a 3rd party asset name and Url that you used in the asset and press 'add' to add the asset to the list.

Can some peeps test it out if it works (especially on Mac as i can't test on mac)
and also try to "accidentally" break the asset :)

When you create the package there also should be a "Read Me" folder added to your submission folder.
If you can check if the file is there and if the text looks Ok.

Thanks for the tool, I'll test this today with my Mac.
